reports on storm event
Hi, I’m Jack Liddon, a county patrol leader for Kent.
On the 23rd January 2010 I attended the Kent county STORM event in Whitstable. I went as a media rep with the county patrol, and it was my job to take photographs and report on the day’s events.
Storm is a laser gun event that was open to all Kent Scouts.
It was an excellent event, one enjoyed by many.
The laser zone was very dark and Smokey. Everywhere you looked you could see lasers. There were 6 teams in total, 3 green and 3 orange. The idea of the game was to hit the opposing team with your laser gun. At first people just continually shot with their laser gun, but soon realised that the gun could run out and would need to be energized at the big black boxes in the laser room; wasting precious battle minutes.
The walls of the laser zone were covered in glow paint. I only realised this after I had leaned against a wall...my clothes now have a special glow in the dark feature to them!
The day was a huge success. Everyone involved had plenty of battles in the laser zone. I would certainly recommend this event for any scouts who would be interested next time.

On 23rd January 2010 S.T.O.R.M (Scouts Take On Rush Mayhem) took place for over seventy Scouts.
The event took place at Whitstable Lazer Rush and begun at 9:30am, carrying on for seven and a half hours and finishing at 5:00pm. Chris from Sheppy announced “Energetic and very fun!” There was twenty two games in total, seven of which was Solo games and the rest Team games. Out of the entire Solo games first place went to Matthew Dean with 36,000 points. He happily quoted “I’ve had a great time and tons of fun!” The Team games were set out so five scouts would be sent out together into battle with five other teams, three of which would go against them. Team D rose to the top of the leader board and received medals for their achievement. At the end of all the matches the six top players of the day took part in a Team match against the Scout Support Team. The Scouts won the match by thousands of points with the help of others cheering them on. Overall the day was great for everyone thanks to the Leaders arranging it and the Lazer Rush Team for setting it up. “Its great fun and we would recommend it to anyone” Hannah, George and Vicki from Sittingbourne and Milton

Storm was success and a lot of fun.First off was individual and boy was it fun and tiring. Next was the team games and your team of 4 was given a letter and you were not on your own you teamed up with 2 more teams and tried to win against your opponents. Then the top 5 players played against 5 leaders. In addition you got an award for :stealth and most kills etc .But overall it was good fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!
