Challenge the Chief - 03-10-2010

This October, Chief Scout, Bear Grylls will be coming to Kent. You’ve seen him on TV, you’ve read about him in the papers, now it’s your chance to really put him under pressure.

Tie a 'Monkey's Fist' with one hand!
Identify three different kinds of wood by smell
To wear a Kent Network fleece!
Fly our biggest 8.5 square metre monster POWER KITE without falling over (too much!)
Can Bear write his name using his left foot?
Tie the six basic Scouts knots (reef, clove, sheet bend, sheep shank,round turn and 2 half hitches, bowline) wearing ski mittens
Explorers, timed at lighting some straw from a single spark on some char. Beat Bear Grills time
Say the Scout promise with a mouthful of ice cubes
Tower of Hanoi
Pitch a Decathlon type tent with roll mat and sleeping bag and get in.
Can bear grylls put on a frozen t-shirt in 30 secs?
Can the Chief balance 16 4inch nails on the head of just one?
Consume a tea bag in under 30 seconds
Given a list of map co-ordinates, how many can he find in the time
Can Bear get through a 6-8 ft sellotape wall using only his hands and a potato peeler?
Do a handstand for ten seconds
Do a mini gymnastics display (handstand, cartwheel and forward roll)
How many knots can you tie in spaghetti
Light a fire with flint & steel
Do a square lashing in 30 secs
Assemble giant nuts and bolts...while blindfolded
Put the Scout Laws in the correct order
How many water balloons can you juggle (or just hold in two hands)?
Sharpen a knife

Stack Plastic cups 1 on 1 to over 1m in 30 secs
